Whitesville（ホワイツビル）は、アメリカの古き良き時代に存在したスポーツウェア・アスレチックウェアブランドです。残念ながら、1960年代にブランドは消滅してしまいましたが、東洋エンタープライズ社（Toyo Enterprises）によって企画・生産され、オリジナルのラベルデザインを用いて現代に蘇りました。この製品は、その東洋エンタープライズ社によるWhitesville（ホワイツビル）レーベルの2パック無地Tシャツ（2枚入りパックTee/メンズ半袖Tee/ショートスリーブTシャツ）です。

デザインはシンプルなセットインスリーブの丸首(クルーネック)無地Tシャツです。シルエットはやや細身で着丈も短くされたスタイルで、1枚でメインのTシャツとして着ても、インナーとしてレイヤードアイテムとしても重宝するTシャツです。

素材はコットン100%の20番手のコーマ糸で編み立てられた柔らかく肌触りの良い天竺生地(未洗い/ノンウォッシュ仕上げ)です。

このTシャツは製造過程で洗い加工がされていない未洗い(ノンウォッシュ)仕上げです。洗濯前の新品の状態では生地の織りが若干粗めですが、洗濯で水を通し自然乾燥させることで綿の繊維が引き締まり、生地の密度が上がり、目が詰まることで厚みが若干増します。その結果、Tシャツは洗濯前に比べて縦方向(着丈)に若干の縮み(約2%-3%程度)の縮みが予想されます。横方向(身幅)の縮みは最小限です。また、着用と洗濯を繰り返すことで、さらに生地が馴染みコットン特有の風合いが生まれてきます。しっかりとした着心地と、しなやかな柔らかさを兼ね備えた生地です。

このTシャツは、「丸編み機」によって編まれたTシャツです。丸編み機は、生地を筒状に編み上げる旧式編み機です。生産効率は低いのですが、低速でゆっくりと編み立られ、余分なテンションがかからずに、糸そのものの柔らかい風合いを生かすことができる希少な編み機です。低速で編まれた生地は、温もりのある味わい深い表情に加え、しっかりとした着心地としなやかな柔らかさを兼ね備えています。そして、丸編み機で編まれたTシャツの最大の特徴が、ボディの脇部に縫い目がない、いわゆる「丸胴」に仕上がる仕様です。現在は量産を重視した高速の編み機が主流になり、丸編み機は時代遅れの技術とされつつあります。しかし、丸編み機で編まれたTシャツには、量産重視の高速編み機では出せない独特の風合いと時代を超えうるタフネスが宿っています。あえて生産効率の低い丸編み機で編むことで、空気を含んで柔らかくも、コシのある強い丸胴生地に編み上がります。また、はぎ目のない服なので、洋服の縫い目が肌に当たらず着心地も良い利点もあります。

ネックリブ(襟周り)はバインダーネック仕様です。襟には30番手の糸で編み立てられたリブが採用され、さらに補強布テープが二本針で縫い付けられています。また、肩、裾、袖口も2本針で縫製され耐久性が高められています。

Whitesville was once a renowned American sportswear and athletic wear label, now revived by Toyo Enterprises, which has even replicated the original label design. This 2-pack T-shirt set includes two T-shirts in one package. Each T-shirt is made from soft and durable cotton, providing great comfort. The pack contains two T-shirts of the same color. These T-shirts feature the Whitesville label and are made from high-quality, fine-weave, long-staple, 7-ounce cotton, ensuring 100% cotton comfort. The fabric is soft and comfortable, constructed using the loop-wheel technique, and knitted from 20-count combed yarn. The seamless tubular body provides a smooth and flattering fit. The ribbed crew-neckband is constructed by sandwiching the body fabric between ribbing knitted with 30-count yarn, further reinforced with tape and sewing it with a cover stitch, making the neckline more durable than typical T-shirts.
